Project Mantle Update: The Cuts

I'll start by saying I love summer.  It's pretty fantastic to be able to come home from work and still have daylight to work on a project.

Today I came home and made the primary wood cuts for the mantle.  And I'll say I'm quite glad that I'm cautious when I work and give myself room for error.  Because I almost always error.  Nothing major, just not realizing which side of the 45° cut to measure to (luckily I over-measured, rather than under).  But in the end, all the pieces fit (before and after photos below).

The next step will be routing the edges to give them more of a moulding design.  That should come tomorrow or Saturday.
